COP26

What is COP 26?

The UK in partnership with Italy will host the 26th United Nations climate change negotiations COP26 in Glasgow on 31 October – 12 November 2021. The summit will bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The UK’s leadership on Climate

The UK has shown that climate action can go hand-in-hand with economic growth. Between 1990 and 2019, UK achieved record clean growth, in that time the economy grew by 78% and emissions decreased by 44% over this time, the fastest decline in the G7.

What do we need to achieve at COP26?

  • Secure global net zero by mid-century and keep 1.5 degrees within reach
  • Adapt to protect communities and natural habitats
  • Mobilise finance
  • Work together to deliver
